Al Spencer began his apprenticeship as a journeyman locksmith in 1972 earning $1.85 per hour, long before the term “lock technician” became the re-engineered title in the profession. Within a year, he became a store manager for a local safe and lock company. He launched his own business from the basement of his father’s house in 1976. With a van and a bag of tools, Spencer’s Safe & Lock was off and running duplicating keys, installing deadbolts, locks, providing automotive services, installing panic devices and safe opening and repairs. Today, we provide many of the same products and services, to the residential and commercial clients of the Washington DC Metropolitan area.
